Overview
ProdGit is a project management application that helps product managers track milestones using GitHub as the source of truth. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.
Key principle: Your data stays in GitHub. ProdGit does not store your code, issues, or project data on external servers.
Data We Access
When you use ProdGit, we access the following data through GitHub's API:
- Repository information: Names and metadata of repositories you grant access to
- Issues: Issue titles, descriptions, labels, assignees, and status
- User profile: Your GitHub username and avatar for display purposes
This data is accessed in real-time from GitHub and cached locally on your device for performance. It is not transmitted to any external servers operated by us.
Data We Store
ProdGit stores the following data locally on your device:
- Authentication tokens: Your GitHub OAuth token, stored securely in your device's keychain
- App settings: Your preferences and configuration
- Cached data: Temporary copies of GitHub data for offline access and performance
- Milestone metadata: Local tracking data such as velocity calculations and risk assessments
Third-Party Services
GitHub
ProdGit uses GitHub OAuth for authentication and the GitHub API to access your repositories. Your use of GitHub is subject to GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Productboard (Optional)
If you choose to connect Productboard, ProdGit will send milestone information to Productboard using your API token. Your use of Productboard is subject to Productboard's Privacy Policy.
Data We Do Not Collect
ProdGit does not:
- Store your data on external servers
- Share your data with third parties (except GitHub and optionally Productboard as described above)
- Use analytics or tracking services
- Access repositories or organizations you haven't explicitly granted access to
- Read or store your source code
Data Retention
All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete all app data at any time by:
- Signing out of the app (removes authentication tokens)
- Deleting the app (removes all local data)
- Revoking access in your GitHub settings
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access: Request information about data we process
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your data
- Portability: Request a copy of your data
- Object: Object to certain processing activities
Since ProdGit stores data locally on your device and accesses data directly from GitHub, you can exercise most of these rights by managing your local app data and GitHub settings directly.
Children's Privacy
ProdGit is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
